Hi, I’m Ren Mitchell.
When I was naming this practice, I went back through years of old notebooks where I've always kept fragments of ideas, half-formed plans, things I meant to circle back to. Buried in one of them was a moment with my oldest daughter, calling me out for a promise I'd made "lots of yesterdays ago."
That one stuck.
It's easy to leave things undone — the follow-up you meant to send, the decision your team keeps tabling, the leadership move you know you're ready for but haven't claimed yet. I've done it too. But the leaders and organizations I admire most are the ones who stop deferring and start building, even when the path isn't fully clear. That's the work I do here: helping new and emerging leaders turn "someday" into decisions made, teams aligned, and momentum built (today, not lots of yesterdays from now).
I arrived at coaching from nearly two decades of being in the room where leadership actually gets built: launching accelerator programs, running community and ecosystem strategy at a global scale, sitting on nonprofit boards through moments of transition, and mentoring founders who were stepping into leadership for the first time, often without a map.
Alongside this hands-on leadership experience, I've built a formal foundation in the frameworks and methods I bring into every coaching and facilitation engagement:

My Approach
Nearly two decades inside organizations working to do good has taught me what actually helps emerging leaders find their footing — and what just adds noise. I don't lead with a one-size-fits-all framework. I start by listening, ask better questions than the ones you've already asked yourself, and help you build the clarity and confidence to lead like you mean it.
Coaching/Mentoring
One-on-one partnership for leaders stepping into a new role, a season of growth, or a moment of real transition. We work at the pace of your actual challenges — building the self-awareness, decision-making confidence, and steady presence it takes to move forward without losing sight of what matters most.
Facilitation
Human-centered sessions that help teams and boards think clearly, decide together, and move from conversation to action. Using tools like design sprints and structured dialogue, I create space for real alignment and honest input, so the people closest to the work shape the path forward.
